Hi all,
I keep checking this blog...but no new updates. How is everyone going? I must admit with great disappointment that I have gotten quite a ways behind. I am still in Exodus, I'm not even sure where we're meant to be up to. I feel bad for not having kept up. But I read 5 chapters today and am hoping to catch up as much as I can.
I have realised of late I am not spending much time in the Word or in God's presence. And I find this shows in my every day life, how I respond to things, how I carry out my daily duties, how I react to circumstances. If I am spending time in God's prescence, reading His Word and in prayer, then it certainly makes a difference. But when I don't, that feeling of God's presence is gone and its really frustrating and I find tension and anxiousness creeping into my soul.
Anyway, just wanted to check in, see how everyone is doing and I guess maybe if you could all hold ME accountable to keeping up with the program. Even if I'm not keeping up with the chapters, just that I am at least making an effort to spend daily time in God's presence. And of course reading our 4 chapters a day is a great way to achieve this as it kinda forces us to sit down and see what God has to say to us that day.
I don't know about you but life for us as a family is quite busy at present. But that makes it all the more vital and important to spend time with God, even MORE time than ever before, because this is the time decisions are being made, lives are being changed and plans are being formed...and for us to make the right decisions and go the direction God would have us to we have to be abiding in Him daily. I just love this verse and am going to try to make it my motto as I try to seek Him daily "I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing" John 15:5
How very true..."apart from Me you can do NOTHING."
Anyways, signing off for now, stop in and let us all know how you're going, what you're up to, even if you're lagging behind, don't feel bad, we can all get up again and try our hardest, God knows our motives and our hearts. Tomorrow is a new day.
love yas,
Neen x

Hey everyone. I hope all is well...this blog has been dormant for quite a while! It sounds like your life is completely hectic at the moment Nina, I know there is no way I would be able to keep up with my readings if I was in a similar situation, so don't feel bad...we all know your heart and thoughts are in the right place :D
ReplyDeleteWell my life has been busy but well mostly from me being lazy/unorganised earlier on in the semester so I can't really complain.
Ummm I think i've been keeping up with the readings...I'm at chapter 13 in Numbers...and like the title suggests it contains a LOT of numbers!
Ummm I found many parts of Leviticus challenging...I look forward to catching up with you all and maybe getting the chance to discuss it...its probably me just not reading it the right way :)
Yes Nina that is a beautiful verse...and definately something we should remind ourselves of regularly. I know what you mean about feeling worse when you don't spend that special time with God each day...I must admit, although I have been keeping up my readings, a lot of the time my mind isn't really there and its like I havn't spent any time with God at all.
I've been faced with a couple of challenges lately...the first real challenges since my baptism, etc. Its been interesting and well hard...but I have certainly realised how much I need God so everything I am going through is definately for the best! :)
I think I need to seriously look for a Church in HB to get me through the times when I can't make it up to Bundy...I really miss the love and support from you guys!
Anyways I have to go now and finish my assignment...fun!
Take care of yourselves and hopefully I will see you some time soon :D
Well hello there. I've had really no excuse other than laziness for not posting on this blog as I don't have any kids and I'm not doing an accelerated uni course and I don't have to work crazy shifts and I haven't just moved away into the wilderness and I have access to the internet. I've been keeping up with the chapters though... I'm pretty sure I haven't missed any. But I don't have any excuse for not keeping up anyways. I'm up to Numbers 16 today (can someone tell me if I'm behind?)
ReplyDeleteSometimes I find myself wanting to just get the readings over and done with, but when I do sit down and take the time to study the word and try to make sense out of it that's when I find I learn the most. I have to say that it was quite challenging reading through all the requirements that the Israelites had to follow when constructing the Tabernacle and when making sacrifices and what not. Golly! And when they went off course they were punished severely; for example when two of Aaron's sons offered a sacrifice that was unauthorized or something and they got put to death. And just yesterday I read that God ordered the people to stone to death a man who was found collecting firewood on a Sabbath. Man! All I keep thinking is that I'm glad I'm in the age of grace... it was so hard for them back then!
Wow! How much has Jesus done for us! When someone sinned, even unintentially, they were to bring an animal (the type depending on who the person was), to be slaughtered, and to be cut up in some special way and to have the blood sprinkled here and there and what not - that was the price for just one sin! Jesus paid this price, multiplied by how many times we sin in our lives (a lot), multiplied by how many people that have ever lived in the world! Wow! Reading through these chapters has made me so much more grateful for what Jesus did for me.
I'm also surprised at how angry God gets sometimes, and how Moses seems to reason with Him. Can God be reasoned with? Or did He automatically know what Moses' responses would be therefore fulfill his divine plan through Moses?
And reading through how the Israelites keep going astray is depressing... but I'm sure we'll read more of this later.
I must get back to work now... Keep going at it guys!
Hello Bloggers.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nina. For seeing how were going, and thanks bec, for posting that former blog. Well... I to have lagged behind. Quite substantially i admit... I'm up to Leviticus 15. Hmm... I am doing 6 chapters now till I catch up. That will take me like, um... 15 days or something? Darn it. I am encouraged by your devotion Reegs and Kim. Thanks!
I to, like Reegs pointed out, have a greater appreciation for Jesus' Sacrifice. Its unreal the steps they had to take. Quite interesting, how they had to wring the head off a certain bird. Imagine the bird, "Sorry Polly, I sinned again... nothing against you fella!" And selectively cutting the parts of the beast up.
Just imagine for the people of the time. Having God giving rules through men for how to live their lives. Split Hooves, Unclean Animals, only those that chew the cud, 'cept rabbits etc. Phew... We do have it easy!
Though maybe to easy... It seems people today are so secure in there surroundings and material world that they don't need God. If I heard that a couple of Blokes got consumed by fire for doing something the Lord unauthorised, I'd certainly step myself up. Hmm... actually. I just did hear of those guys, and the Lord is still our Lord. Hmm, I may need to re-assess...
Well I shall skidaddle. Though I will make a more concious effort to keep posted. Thanks everyone.
Thanks for that verse bean, its a great reminder...

Hey Guys!
ReplyDeleteWow, so good to hear from you all. Yes, we've gotten a little slow on the blogging, but that's ok... perhaps we can aim once a week blog, instead of daily, or even every so often just to keep everyone accountable, as Nina touced on.
Well... I think I am a little behind, but I have a day off today - so plan on catching up. I'm up to Numbers chapter 7 as of today. And yes! So many numbers.... It is interesting though, and filling in so many gaps in my Biblical knowledge. What an awesome opportunity we have :)
I agree Reegs... Reading Leviticus, though so challenging to stay focused at times... and a little more gory than what I was anticipating -- made me see Jesus death on the cross in a completely new light. He truly was the ultimate sacrafice, removing the need to sacrafice animals, (or grains) in the meticulous way they were required to. If every time we sinned we had to kill another animal, imagine the animals that would be getting killed! Goodness. Yes, Jesus death --- it means unconditional love, and forgiveness when we really don't deserve it -- but I can appreciate this ultimate gift on a new level now, knowing what the Israelites had to go through under the Law.
I look forward to catching up with you all sometime soon. Was thinking, we almost need to have a 'book club' type get together to discuss what we are reading in person every now and again. That would be pretty cool... :)
Well, I will get back to reading...... Have an awesome day!
Bec :)
