Well. So everyone's all sweet eh? I notice some either very crazy or very dedicated followers of this blog out there. Like Nina posting something before 6am in the morning! That's a bit crazy for me... And Kimmy at 1:30am! That's even more insane. It just goes to show how dedicated you lot are. It's awesome!
Well if one day I had a son, I would love him. He'd be such a blessing to my life. But if God asked me to sacrifice my son for Him, I honestly can't say that I would even think God was being serious with me. There would be no way I would give up my son for God. It just wouldn't make sense - why would God bless me with this gift then decide to take it away?
Abraham on the other hand didn't think twice. He didn't question God at all! He just went out in faith and did exactly what God had commanded. In the end everything turned out sweet of course, and Abraham was blessed immensely for his obedience. For us, sometimes things don't make sense - we can't understand why God does the crazy things he does. But I've come to realize that in the end it's all for our benefit, if we would only trust Him. God rewards us so much for the sacrifices we make for Him.
Hmmm... "May it be that when I say to a girl, 'Please let down your jar that I may have a drink,' and she says, 'Drink, and I'll water your camels too,' let her be the one..." This reminds me of a true story that my sister Melissa told me. It was about a random guy who was sitting at a random place contemplating life and doubting that God was real. In front of him was a vending machine. He said in his thoughts, "God, if you are real, then while I'm sitting here you'll get someone to stand on their head in front of that vending machine over there." Meanwhile, a Christian fellow who was walking past didn't know why, but suddenly felt a strong urge to stand on his head in front of this vending machine. After trying to fight the urge and failing, he decided to stand on his head in front of the vending machine. Haha! Do you think God has fun with this stuff or what!
Anyway... It would be awesome if getting a wife would be that simple. I hope so!

Well it says posted by Reegs at 2:27am. It definitely isn't 2:27am. Well that makes me feel kinda stupid...
ReplyDeleteLOL...its okay Reegs. :) We still love ya! I'm gonna go read my chapters and reflect on them sometime soon...you made some good comments though. So true about God asking Abram to sacrifice his son...I don't know if I could've believe God and trusted Him enough to do that. I like to think I would've, but man, that would've been a big ask and Abraham was one amazing guy who completely trusted God.
ReplyDeleteYes and about getting a wife being simple...well in a way, I guess if you do ask God to direct your paths and lead you to the right one and just wait on Him, then He may just do something like that for you like He did for Isaac and Rebekah :)
Anyways, will reflect tomorrow maybe on the last 3 days chapters! Good to see a post from you Reegs. Everyone remember Kresto in prayer, first day tomorrow!!
haha yeah the times kinda confused me at first too :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that story about the vending machine, i mean wow!
And no i really cannot imagine having to make a decision like the one Abraham made. Not only was it his first son but look at how long it took him to get Isaac! It really just goes to show that we have it best when we trully trust in the Lord.
You know Reegs, i reckon it probly is that easy you just have to wait and remember God has it all planned out and when the time is right your Rebekah will come along, pitcher in hand...or you could go and sit beside a well...
I find the character of many of the women in the Bible so far a bit disappointing, such as the jealous nature of Sarah, but then again they were very different and incredibly trying times so i really cant judge :)
ok if my comments appear a bit all over the place it is because i have commented on the comments and am now commenting as i read the chapters :)
I really love these stories that demonstrate such complete faith in God. These people journeyed so far and went through so much just because God commanded them to do so. i also like how we can see the doubt in these people because it makes them so real, and how they push through this doubt and then wow what triumph!
Well thats all folks. Night night.
